The Jazz Lawyer Blog

This blog focuses on helping artists of all kinds, especially musicians and bands, learn from my experience, notable deals in the industry that I can comment on, and each others’ experiences as readers leave comments on the posts I create and participate in interviews.  The information here will help all of us connect the dots of the new music and entertainment business.

Come back often to find interviews with artists where they share their ideas and experiences – what worked – what didn’t.  Read articles from other sources and my comments on how I think it effects us in the business.  From time-to-time, I’ll even provide a review of a concert of CD I found exciting.

Like the role of today’s music lawyer, this blog is organized into two primary sections: posts that should be interesting to “emerging artists” and posts interesting to “established artists.” There are core articles categorized under the heading “essentials” and articles about music and musicians under “Music Reviews”. There are written articles, podcasts and videos. The articles I think you will find particularly interesting are the interviews with musicians who are taking charge of their careers and trying new things.

I hope you find this a valuable resource. Good Luck With Your Music, Todd Murphy, The Jazz Lawyer.
