I hope by now everyone has heard about fan funding but I often wonder why so many artists and bands just aren’t using it to raise money for their projects. With sites like KickStarter, IndieGoGo, PledgeMusic, Sellaband and more, it is so easy to raise the money you need to fund your projects.

Here are a couple of success stories that might inspire you.

Search and Restore Jazz Music Promoter. Goal: $75,000, Raised $76,822.

Julia Nunes Singer Songwriter. Goal $15,000, Raised $77,888 (and check out her news spot on CNN here Julia Nunes on CNN).

Zach Brock Jazz Violinist. Goal $8,000, raised $8110.

Santiago Felipe Photographer. Goal $2,000, Raised $2182.

Here is a campaign that, unfortunately and much to my surprise,  failed.

Willie Nile Singer songwriter. (taken down by Kickstater) Goal $30,000, raised $15,000.

Why do some campaigns fail and others succeed?  Simply said, good planning and good promotion.  You have to have a good plan which starts before you launch, create a buzz about the campaign, and get the word out.  It all starts with a great story to help sell your campaign, think up some cool and creative thank-yous and get lauched.

I have had the great pleasure of working on a number of successful campaigns and would be happy to assist you in getting yours launched.

Good luck with your music.
